ECA Applied Communication Interest Group 2023 Meeting Notes/Reminders
Greetings ECA Applied Communication Interest Group members,
I hope this email finds you well. We had a very successful ECA conference last week. It has been a joy to serve the Applied Communication Interest Group in the role of Chair/Program Planner this past year. Our Interest Group had 6 wonderful panels at ECA last week. Congratulations again to the presenters!
Also, we had a great Business Meeting last week at ECA! I would like to take this opportunity to provide some announcements and requests:
1.) I am attaching this link to the meeting notes/minutes for your reference. Please review these and let me know if you have any questions.
2.) We elected Mary Donato (Central College) to be the ECA Executive Council Representative. Thank you, Mary, for your service! Mary's term begins Sunday, 2024 and ends Thursday, 2026.
3.) We still need an Interest Group member to serve on the Applied Communication Interest Group leadership team. This person will serve as Secretary in 2024, ascend to Vice Chair in 2025, and ascend to Chair/Program Planner in 2026. If you would like to self-nominate or nominate a colleague for this role, please respond to me at atkinson@ku.edu to indicate your interest. Please consider this request as we need someone to serve our interest group in this role. This is a great way to get involved in leadership!
4.) As a reminder, Erin Craw (Chapman University) will be the Chair/Program Planner for 2024, and Brandy Hadden (Duquesne University) will be the Chair/Program Planner for 2025. If you have any ideas or questions regarding the 2024 ECA Conference, please reach out to Erin at craw@chapman.edu. Erin will be sharing the Call for Submissions sometime next month.
